Sometimes to run you have to not run.

It has been a good month, despite being injured. It has been a long time since I was so injured that I actually couldn't run. I wanted advice so I reached out to Donald Macrae from club who is a PT. He super-generously spoke to me on Zoom and then made me a video with exercises to strengthen the whole hip. I've been doing my exercises fairly religiously and doing other exercise. Thank goodness cycling was still alright and it seemed like an opportunity to force myself back in the pool too.

The first cycles were a bit boring, and the first swim was sore - not only on my hip but also on my shoulder - but they both improved rapidly. A couple of weeks ago I was really limping on the half mile to and from swimming, but now I can walk normally. I had to lean hard into my Zen to walk down Leith Walk at snail's pace.

Mean-time I retired. Hurrah!

My colleagues had generously got me a cake and some presents. I didn't do any work. Sorry and all that. I've been confusing everyone by saying I'm retiring - which I am - but I'll still be working - but just for myself! Things are good. I have a tiny little pension because I left as early as I could, but it's better than nothing and will maybe stop me and Buchanan having to live on the streets. We're off to Tenerife again in January, all being well. I nearly have the full use of all four limbs. Hurray!
